Additionally, the employees who came to give quotations for finishing our basement and including electrical sockets at our garage were also ready to start the project. The team was respectful, professional, and responsive, which made us confident in the company. However, we later decided not to continue at that moment due to some planning issues on our end. We let CK know and that we would reach back to them if our plans changed. At that time, no contract had been signed. A few months later, my wife and I were ready, we contacted CK that we were ready to proceed. We were told that the quote would increase by 10% due to changes in material and labor costs. It reflected the professionalism that the employees had shown earlier. After that, an updated proposal and contract were issued. The proposal reflected the contract and the total price. We signed the contract, and one of the co-founders, Chris Brandonisio, signed it as a lead estimator resulting in a fully executed agreement. Following this, a project manager and one of the original estimators visited our home to discuss the next step. CK collected a 15% deposit. We were told that the next step would be working with a designer. CK does not allow that until after the contract is signed, and the deposit is made. Given less than 24 hours after collecting the deposit, we were called by CK. We were informed that the company had recently changed its policy for residential work, therefore they require a minimum project cost of $100,000.
