Bikes Not Bombs Hub & Bike Shop: Using the Bicycle for Social Change and Economic Mobility Our non-profit organization uses the bicycle for change. We work in Boston and throughout the Global South. The staff collects about 5,000 bicycles and tons of parts yearly. The bikes are sent overseas because most recipients are nations in Africa and Latin America. The coordinators of Youth Pathways will get these bikes for distribution. Such a person can use skills learned to fit. Youths are then able to learn new mechanical skills. The youth gets a bike they can own if they complete the course. We also sell bikes to the public. You can buy one of our bikes and have it for recreational use or transport. We sell parts from bikes that are not in use. The proceeds help the youth and overseas projects. This process increases the price of bicycles and parts across the globe. Long-term benefits include a decrease in dirty energy. Human and animal life is preserved. Greenhouse gases are reduced. Global warming is also prevented.
