ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University is unique in the way it operates. It is the nation's first visual arts school to grant degrees. But we don't need rigid structures. We are here for the makers, doers, and thinkers who question conventional wisdom. We are here to unite art-making and education in a perfect way. We are here to bring respect and attention to our students' ideas and inspirations. We are here to help them create art that means something, something that pushes boundaries and changes minds.    Degrees and non-degree programs are available in the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. We offer many options for you to build your program of study based on your interests, talents, and goals. Our faculty will support you through every step of your education. Our methods and materials will be shared with you. You will find mentors and inspiration. A review board will evaluate your work. You will be encouraged to share your creations in a professional setting. You will have access to all our materials, tools, and technology. Our department is also a major part of Tufts University, providing services to all students and faculty. We have many strong connections to the MFA and its resources. Our department collaborates with schools, galleries, and museums in our area for exhibitions, research, and networking.    MassArt is different. We believe art can change the world. From the beginning, MassArt has been a beacon in the dark. With our diverse and practical programs, no one's economic or social status limits their access to high-quality education. Our mission is to give our students a healthy future by leveraging their ambition, talent, and effort. We were the first publicly supported, freestanding college in the United States to teach anyone who wanted to make good art.
