About this business

Mark Armour, the founder of the Pooped Pooch Playground, is an Irishman originally from Belfast but moved to Boston in 1998 after years of traveling worldwide. He has served various roles, including chef, bricklayer, travel agent, and skydiving instructor. Visit his blog! Mark Walter, Armours company co-owner and chief operations officer, hails from North Carolina. He moved to Boston in 1997 to enroll in graduate school for violin performance. He never began the program, and a panicking episode drove him to leave his violin and join various arts organizations. The couple relocated to Dorchester in 2005. Mark A worked with his brother and sister-in-law for several weeks in their Active Paws (Watertown/Belmont dog walking company). He set up a dog-walking business in Dorchester and South Boston upon realizing he enjoyed it. Pooped Pooch had grown significantly in one year, leading Mark W to join the venture, where he managed dogs and took care of business. The Marks are a pet-focused family. They have raised many pets throughout their lives and gained in-depth experience in the pet food business. The couple’s current initiative involves founding The Pooped Pooch Pet Supply in Dorchester's Lower Mills neighborhood. Mark has brought the store to life by stocking it with countless fun and nutritious foods that were previously hard to find at one’s local grocery store.
