The organization was established in 1980 by nine artists who envisioned a community art center. In 1984, it was granted 501(c)3 non-profit status. Our focus on the city is what sets us apart from other organizations. We are widely known both nationally and internationally for our artistic excellence and artist support. Baltimore Clayworks Mission The Baltimore Clayworks mission is to build, maintain, and promote an artist-centered community that provides exceptional education, artistic, and collaborative ceramic arts programming. Baltimore Clayworks' core values include artist-centeredness, excellence, inclusiveness, joy, and integrity, to name a few. Principles The company is called "Baltimore Clayworks: Artist-Centered" as it believes in making and appreciating art is essential to human spirit; this is integral to our distinctive community.
