Betty Tillotson opened Lorna’s Studio of Dance (photo) in the Waldo/Brookside area in 1950. For over 50 years, she was the owner and lead instructor. She was a prominent Waldo figure in Kansas City, even serving as Honorary Mayor of the Waldo community. Lorna Sherri bought Betty’s studio in 2017 when Betty retired. Dance is thriving in KCMO. Tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, and tumbling are among the classes available to children as young as two years old. Teachers are all seasoned grown-ups.
