About this business
Established in 1969, McLeod Addictive Disease Center is a Charlotte non-profit that offers adult behavioral health programs. On average, we treat 3,900 people daily diagnosed with substance abuse disorder. In response, we have nine treatment facilities in Piedmont and Western North Carolina. Patients undergo assessments and testing. Our goal is to focus on treating the individual, not the illness.
Medication-assisted therapy (MAT) is categorized by SAMHSA. MAT combines FDA-approved medications with behavior and counseling therapy. MAT is a clinically sound, holistic, whole-patient method to address substance use disorders. The program aims to decrease or avoid opioid overdose by changing brain chemistry. It does this by blocking the drugs' euphoria and reducing physical cravings. We recommend that patients pursue MAT for at least one year and follow a structured treatment plan. Patients get an individual treatment strategy, including urine sample testing and referrals.
