ABOUT   Services Excellence Summary

The Sodoma Law Story began when I founded the firm in 2008. I wanted to establish a law firm that was different. Founding and building the foundations of a company is a thrilling experience. I was creating a firm; yet more profoundly, I was forming a set of rules. It is not enough to write and speak about them; they must be experienced daily. This is the reality of founding a law firm. You must be willing to put in the effort to construct something that will contribute to the community, the clients, and the employees. I call this the “The Sodoma Way.”

SUMMARY   Reviews Summary

Client reviews indicate that the clients highly value the attorneys and the law firm overall. They emphasize the respectful treatment and efficient communication they received, both under stressful circumstances. The firm's online reviews suggest a level of personal and responsive services. Attorneys mentioned include Matt, Carrie, and Sarah, among others, and several clients mentioned them alongside their positive experiences. A large portion of the reviews applaud the empathy and helpfulness of the attorneys. Client reviews, however, laud the firm as a professional and efficient team that values its clients. This treatment was seen in every instance, no matter how small or simple the question or issue. For this reason, the firm is highly recommended for divorce and Custody cases.

If I could give an F, I would. I was lied to from day one. I hired one attorney, Amy Simpson. She was the attorney that was recommended to me so I asked for her specifically to have an interview with. I needed a divorce attorney to represent me. During the interviews, Amy told me that she could get me 80% of the Assets. After having two separate interviews with her, checking reviews, I hired her. She signed the representation contract to represent me in the divorce case. Upon the first court date, she did not show up, instead, another attorney came to represent me that I did not know. Her name was Bethany Mulhern. She told me that Atty Amy Simpson had DOUBLE BOOKED herself for two appointments with separate clients on the same day and same time and Amy decided to go to the other appointment and she was there to fill in for Amy that day and she would be the attorney representing me in the hearing. She did a poor job and the outcome was not at all what I had expected. I found out later that Bethany Mulhern had been given my divorce case and she was representing me as my attorney, not Atty Amy Simpson. After checking with the NC Licensing Board, I found out that Bethany Mulhern was not a seasoned attorney, instead she had only been out of Law school for 4 years! I sent several emails to Amy Simpson telling her that I hired her, not Bethany Mulhern; I new my case was not going to be an easy one and I needed her, a seasoned attorney to represent me; my pleas fell on deaf ears. Bethany Mulhern was kept on as my attorney for nearly a year; Bethany Mulhern was ultimately fired from Sodoma Law. Afterwards another attorney I knew nothing about, Doughton Horton, was given my case to represent me; and then again, my case was transferred to yet another atty, to Atty Hanna Carter. All this was done without my knowledge or approval. After checking with the NC Licensing Board again, I found that Hanna Carter was only licensed as an attorney for a year and a half! I was billed for 5-6 people each month that worked at Sodoma Law. They were shown on the monthly bills by initials only and not names. The bills I received were $3,000-$6,000+ nearly every month. I ended up getting an attorney at another law firm to represent me. There's a lot more I could say. Bottom line, a seasoned attorney conducted the two interviews with me to get my business, then my case was passed around and given to inexperienced rookies, and I was financially raped and still no conclusion to my case. I also had to pay an $8,000 deposit for Amy Simpson to represent me on top of the thousands of dollars per month I was billed. Sodoma Law kept every penny of the deposit. BEWARE!!!!
