Thank you 3. An update to this review: I initially rated this office 1 star. If you read on you will understand why. However Ms. Cyndi Quay was made aware of this situation and took the time to write to me apologizing for the treatment that I received earlier and to let me know she had educated her staff on laws pertaining to service dogs. She said they have never encountered this situation before. I feel that ANY business that is open to the public and handicapped accessible should make all of their employees aware of these laws. One of the reasons that I chose a veteran owned business was because I felt they would be “in touch” with any particular veteran’s needs or issues. MANY veterans look for veterans to do business with and MANY veterans are disabled and frequently have service dogs. This would make it especially important to educate staff on this issue. I’ve given this firm 4 stars. I very much like Ms. Quay and feel that she did a very good job. However her receptionist, Lucia, is unsmiling always, cold and unfriendly. Her approach is not business like it is off putting. This morning I arrived to sign the final copy of my will and related papers. I had my fully trained service dog with me. This dog is trained to a higher standard than any show or pet dog, on monthly flea, tick and heartworm medication and I spend more on his grooming than most women spend on their hair (I brush him out before we leave the house). He does not smell. Upon arriving I was greeted by the receptionist/secretary Lucia who informed me my appointment was the next day and then asked me if I would be bringing my dog with me the next day. I replied that of course I would, that he was a service dog. She gave me a hard time about bringing him “…because the conference room is carpeted.” I told her that she could not legally deny me and my SERVICE DOG entry per ADA law. She then asked for certification or paperwork proving that he is a service dog. I informed her that there is no certification for service dogs in the US, that what she was asking for was illegal and that she should educate herself. She continued to go on and on about their CARPET. I suggested that we just do the signing in the lobby (there are no tables except a very small end table) since it was that big a deal and she proceeded to stare at the small area rug my dog was quietly sitting on. I left bidding her goodbye until tomorrow and again repeated that she should look up the ADA laws concerning service dogs. I told her this was UNACCEPTABLE behavior especially for a law office. My experience with Attorney Quay to date has been good. did not see her during this incident. Unless my reception is quite different tomorrow it is doubtful I will use this firm again. Lucia generally is cold, unsmiling, unwelcoming and unfriendly. I’m willing to overlook that if the attorney is good but THIS cannot be overlooked. This is a matter of my health and safety. 4. Loved Quay & Associates. They were attentive and thorough. They made sure we were all clear and all that we wanted to be covered was. They had a general overall positive demeanor that made the general tone of the meeting more palatable. They were also very effcient so we got everything done in a very timely manner. Cindi Quay represented me for custody about 8 years ago and I was very happy with the outcome. Then about 3 years ago my boyfriend retained her for custody and we were very unhappy. Much stuff was not requested from her that he asked for and we ended up getting it so he was charged for it and she never subpoenaed records that she was supposed to and he was charged for that along with other charges for work that she never did. When we asked for his complete file for the custody case many parts were missing and the most part of the file was the copy of stuff we turned over to her because she would never get the copies herself.
