Daniel Laurel, the founder of The Texas Trailhead, where you may have discovered your hiking trail in Texas, works as the Orvis Austin store manager. Daniel, a Texas native, spent over two decades in central Texas. He adores the great outdoors and spends most of his free time exploring Texas's open spaces. He is particularly fond of the National Parks of West Texas, like Big Bend, the Guadalupe Mountains, and Big Bend National Park. In the store, Daniel's objective is to provide his clients with the supplies and information they require for their outdoor exploits, whether they are hiking trails in Texas or somewhere else. The then five-year-old angler learned from his grandfather. By the time he was ten, he had moved from baits to lures and then to flies. He spent most of his childhood pursuing speckled and redfish in Florida's Choctawhatchee Bay's grassy plains. A new resident of Texas, Shane previously worked at Florida's Sandestin location for four years. As an Eagle Scout, he enjoys every fishing challenge. He either explores local waters or chases Rio Grande cichlids and Guadalupe Bass. Recently, Shane became passionate about fly-fishing for carp. He admits, “It’s like chasing redfish at home but it’s more challenging.”
