Central Community House, founded in 1936, has been serving the Columbus near east and south areas. It seeks to empower individuals and families to achieve their maximum potential, working toward self-sufficiency with dignity. In cooperation with others, we are building a community that supports, nurtures, and empowers each other. TRANSIT ARTS Program at Central Community House TRANSIT ARTS is a program of Central Community House's mission achievement. It is a collaborative partnership with Central Community House, the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, and the Columbus Federation of Settlements members. TRANSIT ARTS offers a variety of multi-disciplinary, interactive arts learning and performance experiences for young people, aged 12-21. We also provide exhibition and performance show opportunities for young adults. Workshops are given at no cost to student participants. TRANSIT ARTS promotes a space where young people are encouraged to discover their creative talents and explore new possibilities in a nurturing arts community. The program's professional artists-in-residency are inspiring and culturally appropriate. TRANSIT ARTS staff, in the role of mentor and coach, shows young people how to identify and develop their entrepreneurial interests, talents, and opportunities.
