Nearly 200 music students attend OCU Performing Arts Academy each week to explore their talents. The Academy's caring, degreed faculty guides students in a coordinated, nurturing environment. Classes for all skill levels may be tailored to each student's current needs. When a student enrolls with the Performing Arts Academy, they receive more than just private lessons. The Academy's curriculum includes the following:
Voice Classes
Classical Voice Technique. Instructors work on breathing, posture, placement, developing a pleasing tone, scales, diction, and repertoire. Voice lessons are available for age-appropriate ages and abilities in classical, folk, or music theater repertoire. Beginners under age 12 are encouraged to take piano. Undergraduate students will be recruited for our musical theatre productions, and the ability to read music and match pitch is necessary.
Piano Classes
Lessons for students of all levels. Instructors work on basic keyboard skills (scales, chords, rhythm), sight reading, and basic music theory. Instructors tailor a program to each student's needs, whether they are a young beginner, adult beginner, or preparing to study music in college.
