The Wurks is an artist-led organization situated in a cooperative art studio in Providence’s historical mill neighborhoods. It is a very different platform for creativity and production. The Wurks is a collaboratively managed artist's workspace located in Providence's historic mill district. Our space includes communal wood and steel fabrication shops, an exhibition space and a printshop, along with large studios for individual and group artists. It serves as a place for Ocean State artists and creative professionals working in all media. It is a space for artists and designers from all over the Ocean State to come together and foster an environment of forward-thinking and hard work. We aim to nurture an atmosphere in which artists and designers can meet, exchange ideas, and support each other as they create and showcase their work. We aim to give Rhode Island's creatives the support they need to share and realize their visions. Our diverse community of like-minded creative individuals connects and exchanges information, thus encouraging a free flow of creativity and inspiration. All members are encouraged to visit, exchange ideas and umlinkplain their creativity with each other. It is important that the creative activity generated in the gallery is fresh, inspiring and surprising; after all, no one will want to enter if it is mundane and boring.
The Wurks has attracted artists, designers, and creatives to collaborate and create artwork and events. We have held art exhibitions and music concerts, and our Friendsgiving. Members can use the Wurks Studio for free, while it is available for rental to the public.
