A coeducational college of liberal arts and science in Austin, it is governed by the American Missionary Association of The United Church of Christ and the Board of Education of United Methodist Church. HT, previously Huston-Tillotson College, officially changed its name to Huston-Tillotson University in February 2005. HT is a thought leader in the education space and does an excellent job of fusing power, passion, and knowledge.

All reviewers have positive things to say about the historically black university, from the secure and beautiful campus to the student-friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. A thoughtful and supportive team of educators, especially Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Phillips, are remembered by one student, while the campus was recently lauded and proclaimed a carefree and enjoyable place to study and master. In contrast, not all students' experiences have been as easy or restful. For the student in case no. 14, the utility of the institution depended on the workflow, in that access to financial aid was slow and had to be followed up. Overall, the rating of the university in the collective review is high and students believe that the university is in the correct direction.
