W.W. Estes, our founder, purchased a used Chevrolet truck that he used to transport livestock from his Virginia neighbors to the market. He started the business to help support his family through The Great Depression. Estes initially focused on livestock and farm supplies to small and large towns and farms. W.W. hired his first drivers and started a Chase City office in Virginia. The company was then officially called Estes Express Lines. Today, W.W.'s one-man trucking operation is the largest privately owned freight carrier in the country. With more than 22,000 employees and a vast fleet that includes over 8,500 tractors and 34,000 trailers. We have operations in 270 terminals that cover all 50 states in the U.S, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Our company has received many awards for safety and consistency along with exceptional customer service. W.W.
