Clamp Light Studios and Gallery

Founded in 2009, Clamp Light Studios & Gallery supports contemporary artists in South Texas. Offering workspace and a monthly exhibition gallery, the studio features resident artists who work in multiple genres, including collage, sculpture, drawing, painting, and photography. Raul Rene Gonzalez currently manages the facility. Born in Houston TX, Raul Rene Gonzalez is a renowned San Antonio artist. Recognized as a multi-disciplinary artist, Gonzalez creates drawings, paintings, installations, performances, and dances. The University of Texas at San Antonio granted Gonzalez a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree, while he holds a BFA from The University of Houston. Frequently, Gonzalez's work addresses fatherhood, gender, labor, among other themes. His work has been exhibited around the U.S. and in Texas, and the National Hispanic Cultural Center Art Museum and The National Museum of Mexican Art are among the institutions where his work is featured permanently. The Luminaria Artist Foundation Grant Award and a Sustainable Arts Foundation Grant are among the awards Gonzalez has received.
