Admittedly, I didn't shop around or do a series of initial consultations with a bunch of family lawyers for a few reasons, 1) because time was of the essence, 2) there was a lot going on in my life and I just didn't have the energy or bandwidth, and 3) I was starting my divorce process after the height of Covid--divorce rates had increased and family lawyers were getting harder and harder to find. I had the luck of being introduced to Juliana Wong through a personal friend who had retained her for his own divorce. And, it's possibly because of this personal referral that she took me on as her client. I'm eternally grateful that she did. "Eternally" sounds like a strong word to use, but it's most appropriate in this case, because she managed to do what I thought was pretty much impossible: she helped me get 50/50 custody of my kids when--and I know she would agree with this statement--the cards were very much stacked against me. My kids are 6 and 9. Thanks to Juliana and her team, I was able to gain precious time and memories with my kids. It's because of them that I will have the chance to develop the strong loving bond a father is supposed to have with their kids. You can't put a price tag on time with your kids. So, I don't lament at all what I paid for her and her legal assistant's services. Juliana is extremely knowledgeable, well resourced, and incredibly savvy and strategic.
