Danette Johnston, CPDT-KA, FFCP, FDM, is the owner of Dog's Day Out and a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA). She's also Fear Free Certified Professional Trainer (FFCP) and Fear Free Coach and Certified Family Dog Mediator (FDM). She used to be a licensed veterinary technician (LVT), in Washington, before she became a behavior consultant and dog trainer. Danette has more than twenty-five years of dog training experience (and people!). Danette has worked in shelters and animal hospitals since 1989. She had worked in dog daycares and emergency clinics too. Danette has done research on dog daycare and dog-dog interactions. She has published articles for The Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians (SVBT) and The Association of Pet Dog Trainers(APDT). Danette spoke on dog behavior to Veterinary Technicians at the Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians' conference. Danette evaluated dogs for the “Canine Good Citizen” for the American Kennel Club. Danette also evaluated dogs for the Delta Society Pet Partner Program (animal-assisted therapy) and taught volunteers sticking to the program. Any dog of any age can get private training at Dog's Day Out. Our private training focuses on solving behavior problems. We use science-based techniques to train your dog and have a positive reinforcement effect.
