The Founding of Retrofit Home
Jon Milazzo, her friend, and Lori Pomeranz launched it together. They moved from Fremont Market to Capitol Hill in 1992 and became business partners. They decided to paint and decorate buildings, which was the beginning of Retrofit Home. They shared a love for home furniture and artistic designs. They visited New York City's ABC Carpet and Home, which inspired them to open a smaller, city, and more stylish urban department store in the diverse Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Retrofit Home has sturdy grounds in Capitol Hill, and it reflects the changing Capitol Hill over the years. It anchors the ever-increasing area with trendy items. These days, the team moved to the Baker Linen Building in 2010, thus expanding the store. Jon and Lori will always create a homey environment with their indispensable furniture and beautiful homeware choices.
The anchor at 1103 East Pike Street in Capitol Hill reminds us of the businesses that brought us here in the first instance. Just like the big orange chair that marks it, it is always full of gifts, candles, and great home decor.
