Tirto Furniture is deeply rooted in family heritage. Chris, a young boy with a passion for furniture, grew up surrounded by James Tirtoprodjo, his father's antique Indonesian collection. The owners of our family’s company strive to keep our heritage alive and stay faithful to every aspect of our work. In the design and construction of our furniture, we aim to blend traditional Indonesian styles with contemporary motifs drawing on many generations of cultural involvement in the industry. Chris and his family began producing furniture in their backyard, and today, their workshop in Blitar (Java, Indonesia) employs many people, including Chris, and his wife, and his cousin, and his cousins. Some workers have been with our family business for nearly 30 years, and our family ensures they receive health and welfare benefits. Our family pays for the children of employees in many cases (Indonesia doesn't provide free education), and the same people who taught Chris and his wife to drive a truck more than a decade ago carve dinner tables. Our company manufactures contemporary furniture that is also sustainable, combining traditional Indonesian design with modern touches.
