Seattle Clinical Psychologist Sean Patrick Hatt, Ph.D. trained as a psychotherapist in California. In the summer 2010 which led him to return to Seattle to create a private practice like the Seattle psychologist he is now. He practices short term outpatient and long-term residential treatment to adolescents and adults with addiction, substance abuse and trauma. This profound experience was at Daytop, located in California. I was able to practice my clinical skills, train in new techniques and learn a lot about the complex interactions between the brain, mind, and body. I worked at Santa Clara University's private counseling center where I taught psychopathology, history, and research methods to Counseling Psychology students. It was the first time I taught and I found it deeply rewarding, especially after running a busy Seattle psychologist practice. My appointments always followed in-depth conversations with the students about important, even life-changing, ideas, theories and questions. My biggest surprise was how much I learned from my students. I was also able to practice clinical work in Silicon Valley. My educational journey began at the University of Washington where I earned a BA in English and Military Science. I furthered this study by obtaining an MA in Leadership and Organizational Development at Bastyr University, Leadership Institute of Seattle and later MA and Ph.D degrees in clinical psychology from Institute of Transpersonal Psychology/Sofia University, Palo Alto, California. I have also received formal training and publications in Buddhist meditative techniques. Dr. Randye Semple is my co-author who is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry, University of Southern California. My post-doctoral biofeedback training from the Institute of HeartMath and Albert Sheldon M.D. had a mentorship with me as the founder of Complex Integration of Multiple Brain Systems (CIMBS). My civilian career before becoming a private psychologist in Seattle began with being a commissioned officer with the United States Army Medical Service Corps. I served overseas in Germany, Africa, and the United States. He has a 10-year career in civilian medicine as a small-business owner, consultant, marketing, and leadership and as an executive medical officer.
