George Williams initiated the idea in 1844! Unexpectedly, a young gentleman from London, George Williams, got The Young Men's Christian Association underway without fully understanding the dramatic impact it would have. In 1841, Williams arrived in London, his first time in the city. He felt an urge to start a group with men his age so they could help him to lower his self-esteem while also getting closer to Christ. The Young Men's Christian Association began with this simple idea. It was not until Williams' matching ties that North America first saw the movement. The first two North American Young Men's Christian Associations were created in Boston and Montreal. By 1854, there were 36 organizations with 14,000 members in the United States. This class is ideal for the gymnast who desires an organized, fun environment to learn gymnastics skills and routines while waiting for the next competitive season. Gymnasts will be prepared for the competitive Gymstars program at The Y by working on confidence and independence while improving their gymnastics skills and routines. Skills taught will include.cartwheels, round-off, backbend kickover, back walkover, back handspring, and back tucks. Gymstars gymnastics team is established on the YMCA fundamentals. We are a member of the YMCA State Gymnastics league, competing against other Wisconsin YMCAs under USAG rules and requirements in JO levels 2-10, Xcel Silver, and Gold. Technique evaluation only.

Most reviewers praise the organization’s staff and family-friendly setting, highlighting the pool, gym, and equipment. Many guests, however, lament timing issues, such as locker room shower availability and swimming pool lane reservations. Y criticizes a member for allegedly introducing politics to the communal property, but the majority of commenters view the center as welcoming and high-quality. In sum, the feedback is mostly favorable, with visitors describing the YMCA as a family-friendly fitness destination.
