Let her protect you. A lot of other lawyers wouldn’t help me because of my job, financial situation and they didn’t believe my abusive ex was a poor dad. They wanted to take all my money knowing full well that he has thousands to throw into lawyer fees. Mary didn’t care about me robbing Peter to pay Paul. She was the first attorney to make me feel confident that they could fight this. Mary’s consultation was very, very in-depth. She made sure to touch on all points like the facts of the case, strategy, and what you should appear to court in clothes-wise. Mary also ensured to call me a day before the hearing to once again go over information. Going into court with mary i felt confident with my case and that she could defend me. Mary was able to defend me and get the case closed and TRO vacated within a very short time in court. I didn’t even have to answer questions in court. Mary defended me and was very honest about what the outcomes could be. I would recommend her to anyone in need of legal services that she provides. I was very disappointed with how she did. She didn’t know hardly anything about the kids and just what she was told by the state. I understand that the GAL is appointed to consider the best interests of the children but I felt like she wasn’t looking out for the kids at all. I could tell that she wanted to retire. She doesn’t seem to really look at the facts and deep into chips cases at least to get down to the nitty-gritty of the situation at hand. I have seen a lot of chips cases in my line of work and I know that kids need both their parents even if one is not allowed to have primary custody of them. If you have a chips case and she is the GAL be prepared for her to push for your children to be removed from your home, for your rights to be terminated. I feel that she also has personal relationships with foster families and was very close with the foster family my child was placed with. That alone was a massive conflict of interest in my mind. She should not have been allowed to serve as a neutral person over my case. The foster family wanted to adopt my child from day one. It felt like Mary as I said was extremely close with the foster family in my situation. So no matter what was said in court, proved in court, so many lies were told in court? She and the state were emailing each other back and forth during court. It felt almost like high school girls passing notes. Making sure they had their story straight and that their arguments made sense and everyone was on the same page. I thought Mary and the GAL idea was great at first but now I believe she should never be appointed to a case where she has former relationships with someone involved. Mary knew absolutely zero about my children nor me yet she was supposed to decide on the CHIPS case outcomes. But if she is you’re GAL for a chips case I’d see if you can get a different one.
