Attorney Summer Murshid

Summer Murshid’s unlikely journey to becoming an attorney in Wisconsin from Sheboygan has not been easy. After earning her JD from Georgetown, she ventured out to find better opportunities. She had to come back to Wisconsin, where she began her practice focusing on employment cases. Her first cases involved wage theft and discriminated employees. She has been very successful in advocating for thousands of employees under Wisconsin’s wage laws. She has also helped recover the employees’ owed pay through her meticulous work. Wage class actions can involve hundreds or even thousands of employees who have all been victims of wage theft, misclassification, or other improper pay practices. She began with a woman who was sexually harassed by her employer. This woman bravely spoke out in order to hold her employer accountable, especially since he wasn’t paying her wages. Murshid successfully filed a complaint that initiated litigation against her client’s employer. They eventually settled at a lawsuit where the client and her ten colleagues received backpay and punitive damages. Other claimants have come to her with stories that need to be told.
