When I was a kid, I used to spend a lot of time staring at the ceiling and wondering how a room might look upside down. What really attracts me are the common artifacts - scenes, and objects so familiar that they have become invisible with time. In a dialogue that I have been working on for many months or years, I explore the same forms or scenes. Contemplative practices cultivate a capacity to see with new eyes every time. The work is infused with my years of Vajrayana Buddhist practice and training as a Buddhist Nun at Gampo Abbey. The fact that I live on the edge of North America means every day I can look over the most expansive horizon. This is a feeling of space and spaciousness few people ever get to experience.

McCallum Gallery represents and exhibits works of art by artists who create contemporary academic realism with an emphasis on nature and narrative portraiture. McCallum Gallery's artists offer a variety of interpretations of our world, from copperplate printing and photography to painting. Gary McCallum, a Halifax-based art collector, and gallery, has developed a deep appreciation for the world of art over the years. McCallum Gallery's goal is to enhance those relationships by bringing vision and integrity to its collection, as well as a commitment to beauty in all of its forms. McCallum Gallery, which began as a physical space in Toronto back in 2012 has grown to be a renowned Studio and Gallery located in Nova Scotia. Walter Moos was the first to endorse McCallum Gallery. Walter Moos was closing down his famous gallery at that time and sent works by Joan Miro Jean-Paul Riopelle and Sorel Ethrog. Gary then expanded the Gallery, showcasing a wide range of fine international art which is now the basis of McCallum & Sons Studios. McCallum Gallery has the honor of exhibiting works by Yana Movchan and Leya Evelyn as well as Alan Syliboy. Oksana Mvchan is also represented.
