Touchmark at Wedgewood

This place is so overrated, it’s humorous. The people who are most impressed by Touchmark, are the Touchmark managers because they are impressed with how much money they charge. The GM at Wedgewood in Edmonton is full of himself and pretends to be caring and in touch with staff and residents, but the truth is he is so far from it. Save your money, and go somewhere with people that care more about the residents than money and appearance.

My mom’s stay at TM was beyond heartbreaking & what real nightmares are made of. Dementia obliterated my mom’s ability to communicate with the outside world. As her chosen legal agent in her personal directive, it was my duty & obligation to be my mom’s voice. I have physical evidence of TM resident care manager who shared with me that the health services director advised the staff to “ not deal with me”. The inexperience & arrogance of management is & became a lethal recipe for a healthcare disaster that increased my mom’s pain & suffering the entire time she was a resident. TM Oregon upper management was informed of the corruption & dishonest business practices. Tragically, they refused to make the desperately required changes to protect this most vulnerable population. During my mom’s stay I also witnessed firsthand physical abuse from a HCA. Management is also aware of the multiple complaints against this specific HCA yet has chosen to continue to employ her. Illegal staffing ratios occur … ie. no RN in building during nightshift, families are not made aware of this nor are the costs adjusted. Protocol for reporting licensed professionals has been followed & is currently under investigation. Be very aware that TM Wedgewood completely lacks the capabilities to properly palliate their LTC residents. My mom died a horrific, agonizing , prolonged death in this facility. Upon reviewing my mom’s medical chart after her death, medical errors & inaccuracies were revealed. As a final note, I recognize that no LTC facilities are perfect ( my mom spent 9 years in other LTC facilities), however, in almost a decade I never experienced the level of criminality that I did at Touchmark Wedgewood. Beyond Tragic.
