Thrive Together Network for Women Artists This network is made up of a group of women artists who have a shared vision. They believe that they need one another, and that the key to thriving in the arts is to know your tribe. Kaylan and Jamie founded Artist Community after meeting while managing separate communities. Over the course of a year, they grew closer as they interacted through chats on Whatsapp or Zoom where they offered each other encouragement. They had a common bond, played a unique role in the community, and it was now time to embrace the fact that community is more important than competition – combine our communities. Kaylan Buteyn is a mother, artist, and curator who runs the Stay Home Gallery & Residency and the Artist/Mother Podcast. Her abstract paintings mostly draw inspiration from the mother form and focuses on the empowerment of women, maternal experiences, and engagement with the community. Her international shows range from galleries to community centers, She founded the Artist/Mother Podcast in 2019 as an extension of her social art practice. In this podcast, she interviews working mothers who are artists. Kaylan has fostered a community of over 1000 women artists who exhibit and are published. These women are also supported and encouraged through a program of crit groups, retreats, and other forms of support. The podcast remains a useful resource for Artists/Mothers. In response to the covid-19 global pandemic in 2020, Kaylan and Pam Taylor co-founded Stay Home Gallery, a virtual gallery. This initiative pivoted to the real world when Kaylan opened her rural Tennessee home as an artist residency and bricks-and-mortar gallery. She holds an MFA in Fine Arts from the New Hampshire Institute of Art. She lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana with her husband and 3 children.
