The errant art space venue is located 5 minutes from downtown Victoria. Members work in seven private studios, which rotate intermittently over the weekends. The exhibitions feature works by member artists, as well as artists from Vancouver Island and Vancouver. Our newly renovated exhibition space is large enough to display contemporary art including painting, sculpture, mixed media, and drawing. Our team has over 12 years of experience in setting up art spaces where our members feel supported and safe. The artists who apply for an exhibition are assured a professional, respectful appraisal of their art and curation guidance in setting up their show. The responsibility for hanging and removing shows, as well as cleaning up afterward, remains with the artist. For information about acceptable practices for hanging and cleaning and remediation, please contact the management. Richard Pawley, Susan McArthur, and the other managers at Errant artSpace are focused on providing independent workspace for local artists while keeping costs reasonable. Our income is derived from the artist's work space and from exhibitions. No government funding or any other form of support is provided to us. The artist receives all sales from the exhibition.

The 901 Main building had served as a Vancouver cultural landmark and studio for more than 20 years. Artists and Vancouver's arts community were fighting to save their studio space. They took the fight all the way up to City Hall. Save 901 Main campaign raised awareness of the artist's plight and Vancouver's lack of affordable, dedicated artist space. Portside Studios are the home to 901 Artists, an artist cooperative with the goal of providing affordable studio space in Vancouver. Portside Studios, a vibrant community of artists located in an elegant and light-filled waterfront space, is home to a large number of talented individuals. The Thrive Together Network is a network of women who share a vision that they need one another and that thriving in the arts means knowing your tribe. Kaylan and Jamie, the founders of Artist Community met while running separate communities. Over the course of a year, we spent chatting on Whatsapp or Zoom and sharing encouragement and advice. We grew closer because we shared a common bond and we played a unique part in creating a community. It was now time to fully embrace the belief that "community is more important than competition", and combine our communities. Kaylan Buteyn, an artist and curator, is the founder of Stay Home Gallery & Residency, as well as of the Artist/Mother Podcast. Her work focuses primarily on the empowerment of women, maternal experiences, and engagement with the community. She often references the mother form in her abstract paintings. Internationally, she has shown in both galleries and community centers. Kaylan began the Artist/Mother Podcast in 2019 as an extension of her social art practice. She interviews working mothers who are artists. It has grown to be a network of many women artists who are supported and encouraged through exhibitions and publications. There is also a program for crit groups, retreats, and other forms of support. This podcast will continue to be a valuable resource for Artists/Mothers. As a reaction to the covid-19 global pandemic in 2020, Kaylan and Pam Taylor co-founded Stay Home Gallery. They then took their virtual gallery into the real world when Kaylan opened her rural Tennessee home as an artist residency and bricks-and-mortar gallery. Kaylan has an MFA in Fine Arts from the New Hampshire Institute of Art. Now, she lives in Fort Wayne with her husband and 3 kids.
