In my private practice, I am a counselor for group at the Vancouver General Hospital, Outpatient Psychiatry Department, as well as at the Adler Centre of British Columbia. Stephen uses a cost-effective, relationship-focused, solution-based therapy that is affordable and results in long-lasting healthy relationships. The average couple will attend counselling for between 4-5 sessions, depending on their issues. From 2014 to 2019, Stephen traveled across five continents and presented couple therapy workshops in many cities. This was for thousands of therapists. He continues teaching online couple therapy workshops throughout COVID-19 (2020-2022). Stephen is the permanent supervisor/consultant to Norway's National Couple Conflict Team (Norway) and Trondheim Norway’s High Couple Conflict Therapy team. Stephen's APA Book was accompanied with six 'Live Sessions' client interviews, entitled Narrative Therapy Through Time. They were able capture his inner workings with the assistance of an eight-member film crew and production crew. Two Masters Degrees (MSW, MSc in Counseling) as well as a doctorate (PhD), in Couple and Family Therapy (Dr. Madigan) are his. His PhD in Couple and Family Therapy is the oldest Canadian. In British Columbia, he is registered as a Clinical Counsellor (BCACC). Couples make up 90% of Dr. Madigan’s clients. His advanced therapy skills are sought by Vancouver's couples, whether they are straight, gay, reuniting, or separing. His history as a therapist includes being the exclusive contracted therapist to Vancouver's Hollywood North Film and Television Industry's 591 IATSE 891 members. He also worked as an actor and director for 13 years. Dr. Madigan founded and is still the director of Vancouver School for Narrative Therapy.
