McElderry & Morris

In 1921, John McElderry started practicing law in Guelph after practicing law for two years in Toronto, becoming the McElderry and Morris of McElderry & Morris. 84 Woolwich St. has been the firm’s location since the beginning. The second floor was initially a temporary apartment by Mr. McElderry for some time. The firm changed this into offices. Patrick J. Morris graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1954. Mr. McElderry attained the stature of a partner when Jerry W. Matthews joined the firm in 1963. Hayes Murphy joined our firm in 1966. Mr. Morris and Mr. Murphy continued the firm after Mr. McElderry passed away in 1973. Sergio J. Manera joined the firm in the same year. Mr. Matthews was with the firm until his retirement in 1993. The firm saw the introduction of Mr. Morris' son and Mr. Matthews' son, Patrick G. Morris, and Gregory G. Matthews, as firm members. Elliott Braganza joined the firm upon his first employment in 2013. Mr. Murphy retired from the company in 2018.
