Hamilton Artists Inc. is an accessible facility run by artists and open to everyone. Hamilton Artist's Co-op was formed in 1975 by artists who wanted to experiment and innovate in contemporary art, giving Hamilton artists the opportunity to meet, exhibit, and feature their art. The Inc. was created in 1979. The Inc. has always focused on the promotion of contemporary art, as well as other cultural practices. It promotes dialogue on contemporary issues through education, outreach, exhibitions, publications, and performances. Several cultural and educational programs are run by the Inc., including a scholarship program and community arts programs. This kind of work is essential because the Inc. is situated in a rapidly changing city that is undergoing a demographic shift.
