Kitchener Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational School (KCI), originally known as Berlin Grammar School, opened in 1855. The school has been an integral part of Kitchener-Waterloo for over 165 years. The facility has changed significantly over the years, with the most recent changes being the ION Construction and Service Upgrades to King Street. Around 1500 students register at KCI each year. The student body, like other downtown high schools, comes from a wide range of educational, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds. KCI students are active, caring, and engaged in the community. Students are safe, feel valued, and take responsibility for their actions. KCI is an inclusive and welcoming environment that strives to be one of the community's best places to work, live, and learn. We are ONE KCI – students, teachers, and the community. We donate money to the school's charity every year. The school's Community Dinner, which is held in December every year, is planned by students and volunteers from the pupils, parents, employees, and other community members. The school is always full of families, food, entertainment, and prizes for everyone in the region who needs a pick-me-up. The school's staff is committed to providing opportunities for students at all levels to learn and grow and interact with each other in a constructive way. Staff is also committed to providing engaging learning experiences in the classroom and outside.
