About Brescia University College Brescia University College is Canada's only women's university. It was founded by the Ursuline Sisters, who were powerful, religious women who devoted their lives to women and social justice. It was established in 1919. Although we were initially established as a Catholic university, we now welcome women from all religious backgrounds. Brescia University College has pushed students of all religious backgrounds for more than 100 years to be leaders with justice, wisdom, and love. This student-focused college is dedicated to the education of women and the growth of leaders. Brescia has an average class size of 29 students, a 14:1 student-faculty ratio, and emphasis on scholastic success. Western University is the Province's largest university, and Brescia University College has affiliations with it. Brescia University College students benefit from the small, supportive environment but can use Western University resources. Students receive a degree from Western University upon completion.
