OCAD University

Founded in 1876, OCAD University's mission is to bring about the best technological, cultural, and quality-of-life advancements for Canadians through education, study, and practice in art and design, as well as knowledge and invention from a diverse range of disciplines. OCAD U strengthens its studio-based offerings and introduces new learning environments that encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration, practice, and the integration of emerging technologies. They've developed a model of education and research that bridges the gap between digital media and design, sustainability and health, indigenous culture, cultural diversity, and native cultures, drawing on both traditional and western art practices. Our students are well-acquainted with this unique perspective. They engage in artistic, technical, and studio-based learning and practice. They acquire the essential critical, historical, and theoretical knowledge they need. Our location is a final source of inspiration. OCAD U is situated on the traditional and ancestral territories of the Mississaugas of the New Credit and the Anishinaabe, the HuronWendat, and the Haudenosaunee — the original custodians and owners of the land on which we now stand.
