Vietnamese refugees who first came to Saskatoon and helped them settle in Canada. Much has changed since then. We are pleased to have helped more than 600 Syrians settle in Saskatoon, as well as other newcomers from over 115 countries. We have increased our workforce from 70 to 211 in just over a decade. We now offer more programming to support refugees and newcomers to Canada. Newcomers in Saskatoon and Canada can connect, integrate, and build strong relationships with their local community, including with our Indigenous communities. Reconciliation Saskatoon is pleased to see a welcoming community where all newcomers are welcome to participate in cultural, economic, and social life.

The reviews demonstrate high satisfaction and gratitude to the Open Door Society for the assistance they have given to immigrants and refugees to assist them in settling in Canada. There is acknowledgment that the staff and volunteers who work at their site have been immensely helpful and dedicated in providing newcomers with a variety of classes for employment support and skills that connect them to jobs. Assistance with filling out government forms and applications was mentioned as well. One reviewer suggested that the company is the greatest resource for any newcomer and they shouldn’t waste any time but rush to the company as though they believed they would find answers for the decisions they need to make. Many activities and events were celebrated and their locations were indicated on the website. Described as adaptable because they can work in different environments and can adopt new cultures, with the company fostering exploration and friends across the borders. The company was much pleased to note that feedback was positive, with some of the reviews indicating that the organization was the greatest influence that the refugees receive.
