Arizona Hiking Shack was established in 1972 in a miner's line shack measuring 10' by 20' in the Arizona desert. In July 2011, we moved into our 11,000 square foot building. Arizona Hiking Shack (a.k.a. The Shack) has been supplying the finest quality equipment to dedicated hikers, backpackers, river runners, mountaineers, climbers, cavers, prospectors, and other outdoor enthusiasts since 1972. Our customers benefit from the many years of technical knowledge we've gained in the field. Arizona Hiking Shack has established solid working ties with public safety agencies and clubs. BSA, the Parks Community and BSA are all a result of our reputation for exceptional service and technical knowledge. Service is key to Shack's success. We use the Phil Oren System to custom-fit each hiking boot. We custom fit every backpack with an "under-load" before you leave the store. Our well-qualified staff tests the products in the field. All our departments carry the best products: Shoes, Backpacks & Clothing, Climbing Equipment, Sleeping Bags & pads, Water Sports, Stoves & Emergency Kits. First Aid and Freeze-Dried Food & Hydration, Maps & Books, Prospecting. If you want to try something out before buying it, we have a rental department.
