South Mountain Community College

SMCC is a microcosm of South Mountain, comprising urban, rural, and suburban areas. The majority of our 5,000 students come from Phoenix, Tempe, Guadalupe, and neighboring cities in the metropolitan region. Evening classes are available at Betty Fairfax High School in Laveen, while our Guadalupe facility offers offsite instruction. Nearly 70% of our enrolled students are first-generation college students, and 48% plan to transfer to a four-year school for further education. SMCC is a federally certified Minority Serving and Hispanic Serving Institution (MSI-HSI). More than 80 per cent of our student body is made up of ethnic minorities. SMCC offers online or small group classes with personalized attention from active instructors. Academic and career advising services are available. South Mountain Community College reviews indicate overall positive experiences that most students have at the school.
