HEAT DANCELINE's mission is to provide comprehensive dance instruction that promotes commitment, discipline, self-awareness, confidence, tenacity, and community. Our instructors exemplify these values to our competitors and their families, and our dancers receive opportunities and workshops that reinforce these themes. The objective is to train technically proficient and well-rounded dancers. Many dancers are trained in various styles because there is a misconception that majorette is not an advanced style.
Kale Woods is a Bay Area native who has been dancing since she can remember. She competed in jazz and hip-hop competition teams around the Bay Area when she was young. She was introduced to Drill/ Majorette Team Dance at Spelman College. The change in culture from professional stage dancing was a culture shock. Her passion for dance after joining the “Mahogany N Motion” dance team at Morehouse College was realized as she learned “sisterhood” and “self-awareness.” Kale captained Mahogany N Motion from 2003-2005 and has served as a consultant and coach since graduating from Spelman College. Kale now coaches Mahogany N Motion. Morehouse College Competition Dance Team for Spelman College was created by Kale to expose and diversify dancers’ talents. Georgia dance groups have been choreographed, danced, and coached. Kale was a consultant for hip-hop artists. Kale was appointed coach of the Jewels dance line, a group of women from Oakland, CA, to promote the West. Dance culture and style of HBCUs. In 2015 Kale and Maia Siani founded the Inferno dance academy and Heat Majorette Team. Dancer's task is not only to train excellent technicians but also to give them confidence and skills to become leaders in their community. Kale has a master's degree from Mercer University School of Medicine and is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice.
