Central Texas College: Founded by the People in 1966, we Are the College of Choice! In 1965, voters approved the building of a college that would serve the Bell County, Burnet, Coryell, Lampasas, Llano, Milam, Mills, and San Saba Counties. The college would be constructed on 560 acres of Fort Hood land that the U.S. Department of Education donated to the local committee who proposed and promoted the bond issue. Central Texas College was established in 1967 following a $2 million bond issue. The local community college was covered under Section 130.04 (Texas Education Code) with a starting enrollment of 2,068 students. The college's course offerings have grown in number and location. The college maintains its accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, which it first received in 1969 and was reaffirmed most recently in June 2015. Through dynamic education, Central Texas College equips and empowers students for successful futures. Central Texas College offers a variety of convenient and flexible class formats to accommodate busy schedules, including our telecommunications distance education courses, which can be viewed live on a TV or recorded for later viewing. Whether you are near or far, CTC offers numerous courses online, live and recorded TV, or face-to-face at over 30 locations worldwide.
