Welcome to Shorey Art Studio, a family-owned art studio in Liberty Station, San Diego. Thank you for taking the time to visit us. We specialize in Southern California-inspired acrylic and mixed media art that captures the soul and spirit of the region. Our studio and online shop are always open to visitors. My name is Ellen shorey, and I have been painting since my childhood, a passion turned into a successful venture when I signed a lease to my studio named EAS Art Studio. I prefer using acrylic for painting. It is easy and safe to use, with a fast drying ability allowing the creation of multiple layers. I enjoy mixed media, especially wood and canvas. Drawing and painting started for me while serving as a Navy WAVE in the 1960s. Following my service in the military, I became a Bon Appetite magazine systems administrator. I showed dogs at dog shows, traveled, and explored other interests outside work. However, drawing has always provided comfort and solace for me. My artwork often leans towards modern abstract, as I view it when analyzing it. I always find it interesting to hear other people's interpretations, as they all have their unique perspectives. I draw inspiration from all places. When I stroll, I notice various things like geometric and natural patterns. The pavements, gutters, walls, and cobblestones may be the places where my attention is drawn. For things that interest me, I usually take photos. Sometimes I start painting in a "free-spirited" manner without any plan or direction in mind.
