Since its inception in 1921 as San Jose Junior College, San Jose City College has been committed to providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality education aimed at preparing students for success in the workforce or in higher education transfer. San Jose State Teachers College and San Jose High School District signed the document establishing it. It gave students from high school and beyond pathways to four-year colleges and fields like agriculture and manufacturing. The Junior College was allocated unoccupied San Jose High School classrooms from 1921-1923. From 1923-1953, its anchor was San Jose State. The College was transferred from San Jose State to San Jose Unified Schools District (SJUSD) in 1953. Since 1953, it has been at its Moorpark Avenue location. SJUSD changed its name to San Jose City College in 1958. San Jose City College is a fully accredited California Community College that was founded in 1921. The school offers a variety of certificate and degree programs designed to prepare students for jobs and transfer to four-year colleges and universities.
