August House Studio: Roscoe Village's Creative Mecca Located in the heart of Roscoe Village, August House Chicago has been serving the community's artistic needs since 1987. Our studio has an Exhibit Gallery where you can enjoy our art and lifestyle exhibits. We also offer casual and friendly painting and drawing classes for both children and adults. Marya Veeck: Submerged Emotions Marya Veeck creates intricate and beautiful tableaus using dollhouse furniture and natural objects. These toys reveal submerged emotions through elliptic metaphors. Veeck's renditions of small objects transport us to a place as intimate as a book and personal as a childhood memory. An oil painting awakens emotional perception through a feeling of inner light. The shimmering colors emerging from objects' edges suggest a life force or vitality animating them. The glow of the fluorescent colors alters the viewer's emotional perception.
