Horizon University

Classes began in November 1993 with the name Horizon Bible Institute (HBI). Students asked HBI to change its name to Horizon Christian Schools and Seminary from Horizon Bible Institute so that they could feel they are attending a fully accredited university. To continue expanding our offerings, HCSD requested a religious exemption from the State of California Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education in 1996, and it was granted. Many students who have completed HBI since 1993 are happy working in different ministries or have been able to continue their education. HBI established an articulation agreement with Azusa Pacific University's Haggard Graduate School of Theology in April 2000. The university's graduate program admitted our graduates. Organizations that serve people with limited access to healthcare. Missionary training, inner-city churches, and denominational offices are examples of such services. The relationship between HCSC and APU was mutual, and many students took advantage of it by earning their master's degrees. In 2005, HCSD created similar relationships with Bethel Seminary of San Diego and with Southern California Bible College and Seminary. Horizon University is rooted in the Christian gospel. Our curriculum aims to help students develop critical thinking skills, acquire a broad education base, and understand their individual calling and vocation from a biblical perspective. Our goal is to shape them into servant leaders who impact their communities and the world.
