Krista Bermeo Studio creates clean, modern designs available in many materials- gold, silver, and titanium. My aim was jewelry that is lightweight and wearable. Krista Bermeo began in 2005 at Indianapolis' Children's Museum designing jewelry. She started by sculpturing playful, organic shapes with molten glass. Gravity became her assistant for giving shape to what she envisioned. The drop shape isn't new, but a fundamental property of liquid and molten glass. It just captures light that suggests suspension and how one can see it as a new form and question, "How can this drop of light be a piece of jewelry?" Although Krista Bermeo produces jewelry predominantly for adults, her fascination with light is apparent in her work. Krista Bermeo's designs embody her aesthetic of elegance and play. Her pieces are light and fragile and suggest dewdrops, pebbles, twigs, or magnified grains of sand. Recently, she has gathered remnants of broken glass left in her hometown, melted them under a torch, and formed bizarre constellations that tell a story of time and place. Art can turn fragmentation into beauty. The shattered glass collection of 2020 is an homage to a year filled with chaos and numerous glass ceilings falling. This piece answers the question, "This is how I try to pick up the pieces." Krista Bermeo's work has been seen in retail locations like Corning Museum of Glass, NY, The Phillips Collection, Washington, DC, and The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The company is based in downtown Indianapolis.
