About this business
Taylor Smith Artist Studio hails from Indianapolis. Her artwork and image-making are inspired by science, technology, and consumer culture in its various forms. She captures disregarded and forgotten technologies, utilizing her training in photography and art history to redeem overlooked imagery and components. Her work emphasizes "reimagined living" in mundane objects. Her work focuses on images and objects, depicting nostalgia, consumerism, and pop art history. To address the fast-evolving state of technology, science, and people, Taylor's process incorporates abstraction and figuration, as well as reinterpretation and recontextualization of familiar pop art icons. She moves fluidly between screen printing and filmmaking and incorporates various media into her work, including commercial packaging and discarded computer disk drives. Taylor has exhibited her work in various galleries across North America and Europe, and her work is held in numerous prestigious collections in museums and public institutions.
