Paul Paletti Gallery was founded in July 2001 by Paul Paletti, a photographer collector, and attorney. The market Street office building needed a renovation for his legal practice, and the idea of a gallery emerged. The remodeling took six months and included everything needed for a photo art gallery, such as lighting and layout. The gallery made its debut in July 2001 by participating in the second Photo Biennial (showing Rolfe Corn’s photographs). The gallery initiated the monthly public event the first Friday gallery hop that takes place on the First Friday. There are currently 50+ Louisville galleries on Main Street and Market Streets that extend their hours and offer refreshments; the galleries welcome visitors from thousands of miles to come and see the art. The gallery's mission is to make the public aware of photography, a complex art medium, and a beautiful and collectible art form. The gallery features museum-quality photographs from various time periods. The photographer, who has a unique and creative technical view, has been portrayed. The gallery has also created an artistic and scientific sale and display standard to educate and support collectors. The gallery also serves as an education resource for teachers and students.
