About this business

Norman Crump Studio was born in Boston where he began to exhibit other local artists’ works following the gallery’s opening. The studio was inaugurated in the New Seaport District, World Trade Center, Boston, in 2003 as a partnership with another artist. However, Norman shut its doors at the onset of spring in 2008 to focus on plein-air paintings (Norman Crump Studio, 2013). He accepted commissions from South Boston, and both plein air and studio work had 10 by 10 foot studio space rent-free in Omni Parker House on Tremont St., Boston Ma, in April 2016 (Norman Crump Studio, 2013). Normanis a co-founder and charter member of the South Boston Art Association. Norman has a studio at home in South Boston where he retreats from time to time to work on creating (Norman Crump Studio, 2013). A native Bostonian, Norman Crump has painted New England landscapes, Boston Harbor, and surrounding areas for over 40 years. Norman orients himself as a studio and plein-air painter, known for his strong designs and vibrant colors (Norman Crump Studio, 2013). Norman uses oil primarily and, in some cases, acrylic. Norman’s paintings are loved by collectors and are in-demand in the US and global corporate collections. Norman attended Vesper George in Boston and later the Art Institute of Boston. His extensive traveling across the US has helped him to develop an understanding of color and light subtleties in nature, which he incorporates into his work (Norman Crump Studio, 2013). Two artists from the South Boston community opened a studio in Boston in the 1970s. Norman began painting large landscapes and abstracts using the sketches he had accumulated during his travels.
