Through dance, we are like-minded women who lift each other up. We have no judgment, are part of a group, are empowered, and are free to express our feminine energy. We focus on the needs of our students in all classes and choreography so that every student feels amazing when they leave. Our virtual studio offers a variety of online classes with a wide range of levels. The most popular is level 1, which we offer to those who have not danced previously. For those who have prior dance experience, we also offer level 2 classes and open classes. Monthly workshops at various studios in the US. Since 1955, Dance St. Louis brings the best dances of the world from around the globe to St. Louis. A small group, led by Washington University Dance Professor Annelise Mertz in 1966, met each other at home to discuss how St. Louisans could enjoy the modern dance. Dance St. Louis grew from these informal meetings and a budget of only $11,000 to become one of St. Louis' cultural treasures. Dance St. Louis presents world-class ballets that would not otherwise be shown in the St. Louis area. It makes these dances accessible to an audience of all backgrounds, supports local dancers, and dance companies, and provides unique dance education outreach. Dance St. Louis brings audiences a wide range of dances, including classical ballet, modern ballet, ethnic dance, tap dance, jazz dance, hip-hop dance, and artists from all over the world. In the past, many major dance companies were presented in the Fox Theatre and Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center, as well as through collaborations with Washington University’s Edison Theatre OVATIONS. series. Dance St. Louis is proud to have brought together stars like the Kirov Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre. Other dance companies include the Joffrey Ballet. Dance St. Louis offers a wide range of educational programs to the St. Louis area. The Education Outreach Program exposes thousands of children to dance each year through residencies in middle and high school urban schools each semester, master classes by each of the companies we feature, and the Young People’s Performances, which reach over 1,400 students of all ages each year.
