Through dance, we are like-minded women who lift each other up. We have no judgment, are part of a group, are empowered, and are free to express our feminine energy. We focus on the needs of our students in all classes and choreography so that every student feels amazing when they leave. Dance St. Louis presents world-class ballets that would not otherwise be shown in the St. Louis area. It makes these dances accessible to an audience of all backgrounds, supports local dancers, and dance companies, and provides unique dance education outreach. Dance St. Louis brings audiences a wide range of dances, including classical ballet, modern ballet, ethnic dance, tap dance, jazz dance, hip-hop dance, and artists from all over the world. In the past, many major dance companies were presented in the Fox Theatre and Blanche M. Touhill Performing Arts Center, as well as through collaborations with Washington University’s Edison Theatre OVATIONS. series. Dance St. Louis is proud to have brought together stars like the Kirov Ballet and the American Ballet Theatre. Other dance companies include the Joffrey Ballet. Our ON-SITE program brings dance into highly visible public spaces to reach diverse communities who work and live in the area, some of which have limited transportation. Many visitors and tourists from the rural counties of Midwest see Cherokee St. as a destination, and they flock there to enjoy its unique collection of street festivals and arts events. Leverage, the only professional company in the region, aims to make Cherokee Street a destination for immersive dance performances. Our company is flexible and offers opportunities to both new artists as well as those who have accumulated experience in their field but are not in a position to be full-time professionals.
