Cleveland Ballet

Cleveland Ballet was established in 2014 by Dr. Michael Krasnyansky, an American Ukrainian entrepreneur, along with Gladisa G. Guadalupe. It is known for its innovative and visionary approach and for being a part of a general trend towards acknowledging and implementing the principles of diversity and creativity. Cleveland Ballet is growing quickly and is now one of the most compact and flexible ballet companies in the United States. Cleveland has a rich dancing history dating back to the 20th century when Michael Krasnyansky, of Ukrainian origin, migrated to Cleveland where he settled down. In his new city of residence, he met Gladisa, an outstanding dancer and choreographer of Puerto Rican descent. Krasnyansky and Gladisa came together with the purpose of contributing to the history of Cleveland's dance, a journey that was started by Adella Prentiss, a legendary dancer, and Giacomo Bernardi, a businessman. Pavlova, one of the legendary ballerinas from the early 20th century, was also brought to Cleveland by Prentiss and Bernardi. Moreover, the two also collaborated to host the U.S. debut of Diaghilev Ballets Russes (Cleveland Ballet, n.d.).
