Eileen Dorsey Studio at 78th Street Studios, Cleveland, OH, is a vibrant part of the community. Every third Friday, more than 60 creative spaces open their doors for free to the public from 5-9 pm. Thousands of people visit to enjoy live music, food trucks, and hundreds of pieces of art. However, admission to the annual event is free. The artist makes vibrant, meditative landscapes in many colors and fantasy scenes. Her impressionistic and expressionistic marks capture the spirit of the places she has seen. Her paintings featuring our connection to nature and its life-giving elements and how we can transcend reality to evoke pure emotions. To ensure their well-being, she produces artwork that increases community vitality and resonates with people. Dorsey earned a Bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in Fine Arts. She took inspiration from Charles Basham, which led to a collaborative exhibition at the Massillon Museum of Art. Dorsey is an award-winning artist. For the quality of her work, Cleveland Scene named her the Best Artist in 2020 and 2018, while Cleveland Magazine gave her the Best Artists Award in 2019 and 2020. She has also received awards in juried exhibitions, such as the Akron Art Prize and the Brecksville Centre for the Arts, and the National Arts Program. Her pieces are on display at the Butler Institute of Art, the Riffe Gallery, and in the collections of ARTneo and the University Hospitals.
